An Early December Snow

It is a very rare thing for Arkansas to get any snow (ice is usually our thing) but to get snow before Christmas, that almost never happens.  As you can see, we love it.  Eventhough we home school we can still enjoy a snow day every now and then.

The snow has lasted for 5 days!  We have played in the morning and in the late afternoon.  It has been a lot of fun.

The squirrels have been playing too.  I just love the pattern their tiny bodies made in the snow.

I hope this isn't the only snow we receive this winter.  The kids are just getting to the age where they really enjoy it.

Happy 8th Birthday Jordan

It is hard to believe that Jordan is already 8 years old.  We are so blessed by him daily.

Jordan has such a tender heart!  His love language is gifts and he expresses his love daily by drawing and making gifts to give to others.

Jordan is a really deep thinker and many times he stumps me with his tough questions.  He has a really strong love for God.

God uses Jordan and Alissa often to remind me that He delights in me, just as I delight in them.

I love you Jordan and am so proud of you!  You are growing up so fast.

Love,
Mommy

Halloween 2013

Super Girl and Moto Cross Racer were their outfits of choice this year.

For Alissa the choice was rather simple.  It was a pink and therefore she wanted it.  It really had nothing to do with being Super Girl.

Jordan was excited about this costume.  He had told us recently that he would like to be a BMX rider when he grows up.  This was about as close as we could get to that.

Pumpkin Carving Fun

Tonight we had some fun carving out our pumpkins.  We let Jordan and Alissa design their own and then we carved them for them.

We ended up with a boy and a girl pumpkin (imagine that).

Daddy is such a joker!

Jordan had fun digging out the "guts" of the pumpkins.

Alissa reached in and meticulously pulled out 1 seed.  She was not interested in touching the strings.

We bought these pumpkins 4 weeks ago.  I'm pretty sure the kids have petitioned every day since then to carve them.  They have been waiting such a long time.  It was so fun to hear their giggles and excitement when we finally told them we could cut into them tonight.

War Eagle Fair

I had the opportunity to participate in the War Eagle Craft Fair this weekend.

This was their 60th anniversary.  Can you believe that a craft fair can have a life that long?

Aside from having to leave home at 6:00 every morning (and waiting 4 hours to thaw), I had a great time.

The kids helped me set up the booth and we even had some free time to play by the river.  They loved it!

Crossing the bridge and going into the mill was the highlight of the trip for them.

Jordan bought a geode rock.  You crack it and see what type of crystal is inside.  They can be colored or snow white. Ours was a beautiful white crystal.  He even bought some candy for his little sister, what a great big brother.

It was a lovely way to spend an Arkansas fall weekend.
