Lemongrass Wedding Inspiration Board

It seems the weather is just playing games with us. One day it is warm and sunny and the next the ground is covered with snow. I am ready for warmer weather and nice spring days and though I am trapped inside with snow on the ground I can still dream right? 

The anticipation of sunny days, gentle breezes and new blooms were the inspiration behind this board. I love how it captures the tender touch of an early spring day.

Some elements used when designing this board were subdued yellows, natural linens and cottons, feminine patterns and wispy fabrics.

I think the key to making any wedding look great is using your choice of colors and elements sparingly and intentionally. The beauty will speak for itself, it does not have to be forced. I think this board is a great example of this. The inclusion of yellow is balanced out beautifully with the neutural characteristics of a beautiful flax color as seen in the flower girl dresses, table linens and bridesmaid dress.

Peaches and Cream Inspiration Board

Ya'll it is almost spring! Here in the south we are just beginning to see some very small buds coming out on the early flowering trees. I see blue skies sprinkled with the prettiest peach, pink, and white blossoming flowers in our near future and can almost breath a deep sigh of relief as we usher out the cold winter months.

Delicate, dainty and feminine this inspiration board is stunning for an early spring wedding. I love how all of the elements, though small individually, combine together to make a charmingly dramatic impact.

Do you have the winter blues? I do...so I thought it would be fun to brighten things up a little bit.

This board is different from any I have shared so far and to be honest I was a little concerned that choosing such bright colors may turn out looking tacky or overdone; but, they didn't. I love how this board brings such modern whimsy yet remains simple and elegant. It serves as a great reminder to make your wedding day your own. It doesn't have to fit into a particular mold to be beautiful and with the right choices and careful planning anything can be achieved.

 Here are some of the elements that were used in planning this board, use them to make this look your own:

Colors: Citrus Fruit are the inspiration Tangerine Orange, Grapefruit Pink, Lemon Yellow, and Lime Green with some softer green you would find in mint

Elements: Citrus Fruits, Ribbon, Bold Geometric Shapes, Watercolor

 Flowers:Yellow Poppy, Leucadendron, Spray Rose, Poppy, Ranunculus, Gerbera Daisy, Tulip

 Fabric: Chiffon, Cotton, Satin, Velvet

Captivating Valentine Inspiration Board

When I was in elementary school my parents started a tradition that followed through to high school, they had flowers delivered to me every Valentine's Day. I remember waiting in anticipation, as I went to my classes, to hear that a delivery was waiting for me in the school office. The hope of what was to come was great: what kind of flower would it be, what color, would there be a balloon (or many balloons), and what would the card say. That tradition built a fond love of Valentine's Day which, of course, was later transferred to my husband.

 Valentine's Day is a day for dreamers, for the romantic, and for those who love to love.

Take that love of Valentines Day: the balloons, the flowers, the decorated boxes with little love notes slipped inside and turn it into something captivating. That was the inspiration, for me, behind this board. The idea is the same, but the elements are a little more sophisticated.

Elements: Flowers,"LOVE" in type or on display, hearts, pretty ribbon, lace embellishments,

Warm Christmas Inspiration Board

Hello Friends! I hope you had a lovely Thanksgiving and that you were able to create some beautiful memories with friends and family. Now that Christmas is in full swing I am sure you are probably in the midst of decorating your home for the Holidays, shopping for gifts, and enjoying some nostalgic Christmas music. 

All of the sights and sounds of Christmas served as wonderful inspiration for this festive Christmas board. A bit traditional with the typical red and green seen this time of year, but with a bit of black thrown in to add some warmth.

Chocolate & Plum Wedding Board

Rich and luxurious are adequate descriptions for the inspiration board I am sharing today. The warm colors are inviting and intimate, they are kept in balance by the sprinkling of a blush tone.

Deep browns and purples look so lovely together, but can easily look monochromatic when paired together. Consider adding a blush pink to help add dimension and watch as your color scheme comes alive.

Delicate Winter Wedding Board

Since mother nature has decided to skip fall and go straight to winter this week, I thought it would be fitting to do the same.

The star of the show in this weeks inspiration board is the lovely silver brunia ball. This flower is one of very few flowers that naturally has a beautiful silver-gray color.

The beauty this fall has been astounding. At every turn there are rich, luxurious shades of burgundy and gold. It is so easy to feel inspired when all nature is bursting with vibrant color.

Turn Your Dreams Into Plans

Dream Big Printable

 It is completely astonishing to realize all of the planning you will have accomplished by the time your special day arrives. Prior to your walk down the aisle you will have chosen:

• wedding attire for yourself, your groom, bridesmaids, groomsmen, a flower girl, etc.
• printed material that can include (but is not limited to) save-the-dates, invitations, programs, menus, and thank-you notes
• a florist, a venue, a cake and maker
• and so much more

That is a long list of decisions, all of which have millions of wonderful possibilities.

Antoine de Saint-Exupery, a pilot from the early 1900's is quoted as saying "A goal without a plan is just a wish". This most definitely could be true of your wedding day if you approach it without a clear vision in mind.  Not only that, but without a plan, you are more likely to end up with things you don't truly love and will likely overspend.

You have big dreams for your wedding day. Begin working now to make those dreams become a reality and not merely just wishes. One of the ways to do this is by creating an inspiration board. Think on the things that you and your fiance love: what are some of your favorite activities, do you have a mood you'd like for your wedding, are there flowers that you absolutely dislike or some you definitely want to include. All of these things can be influential in helping you create a solid look for your wedding. Put them together and you develop a clear vision to aid you as you plan and make decisions.

Creating an inspiration board helps you stay focused as you work to make wedding plans. It helps you turn that lifelong dream into a reality. Use it as a source of inspiration rather than something to obsess over and it is sure to make the endless list of decision making an enjoyable process.

Black, White & Gold Fall Inspired Wedding

I love the idea of a black, white, and gold wedding in October but am sometimes turned off because they all seem to turn out looking very "Halloween'ish". Not that there is anything wrong with a Halloween inspired wedding, those can be very fun and pretty, too, but there are different ways to pair those colors together to achieve a much different look.

September: when the evenings begin to have a welcome chill, leaves turn a crisp array of colors, football is the favorite past time, and we pull out our favorite pair of boots and comfy sweaters. Here are some suggestions for making your August wedding breathtaking and pleasant despite the hot weather.

• Keep your guests cool by renting free standing misters which are said to make a surrounding area feel up to 10 degrees cooler.
• Have your wedding program printed onto a lovely paper fan.
• Make sure to have plenty of water available.
• You and your bridesmaids may enjoy having your hair pulled up in a soft braid or a wispy updo.  Also, be sure to choose dresses with lightweight fabrics in soft pastels.
• The new trend of a "naked" cake is an absolutely wonderful idea for a summer wedding.  No need to worry about it "melting"
• Consider a late morning or early evening wedding to avoid the hottest time of day and be sure to assess your venue to determine the sunlight pattern. Set up your seating in an area that receives shade first.
• Above all: have fun!
